PROPERTY PROFILE

LOCATION

The GIENNA stud is based on Brookmount, a 1244 ha property situated 11 kilometres east of Walcha on the New England Tablelands in northern New South Wales, Australia.

CLIMATE

The average annual rainfall on Brookmount is 737mm (50 year) with 47% of rainfall experienced from November to February (summer dominant). Being situated on the eastern fall of the Great Dividing Range Brookmount experiences cold harsh winters of heavy frosts and occasional snowfalls with generally moist warm temperate summers.

TOPOGRAPHY & SOILS

The property's fragmented nature and elongated shape results in a variety of soil types. Soils range from undulating to low hilly stony basalts through to loamy trap and stony shallow shale based trap soils. Elevation varies from 1030 metres (3379 feet) to 1170 metres (3839 feet) above sea level.

PASTURES

Pastures are mostly unimproved with a pasture improvement program started in 2000. Since then general applications of fertilizer have been applied to the whole property with smaller pockets of intensive development commenced in 2003.
